Calling all officials...
Congratulations to Lori Kindopp (Alberta), her Officiating contest submission was selected and she will receive a jersey, helmet and whistle.
Why I Officiate - by Lori Kindopp
I like the friends I’ve met and the camaraderie of spending an entire weekend together at the rink.
I enjoy the exercise of getting out on the ice for a good hard skate.
I appreciate the talent of the athletes, and often marvel at their speed and agility.
I smile when I see a player pull off a really smart pass, or when a goalie I thought was down and out reaches up to snag a shot that was labelled for the top corner of her net.
It makes me happy to watch a team pull together to come back to tie a game, cheering each other on after good plays and tense moments.
I thrive on the adrenaline that comes with being part of a really great, competitive game.
And I like knowing that I played a role in letting it all happen, that my being there to call the game allowed the girls to play, to work as a team, to try their best, and to win or lose fairly.
I like to ref because I love ringette.
Honourable mentions go out to Myles Blahut (Manitoba) and Tina Lepage (Québec) for their submissions as well. Each will receive a new whistle. Click here to read about their memorable experiences.
