Fitness Tax Credit

From local playgrounds, to recreational sport leagues, all the way to high performance athletes, sport is vital to the cultural fabric of our nation. Canada is a leading sport nation and we want to keep it that way.

Did you know that you can receive a non-refundable tax credit for eligible fitness expenses paid to register a child in a prescribed program of physical activity? The Canada Revenue Agency’s Children’s Fitness Tax Credit, originally announced in the 2006 Federal Budget, is designed to address the negative health consequences resulting from declining levels of physical activity among Canadian children as well as to alleviate the escalating costs to parents when registering their child in organized physical activities.
