France Levert

“My interest in sports began with hockey. My daughters, Karine et Stéphanie, who were 4 and 5 at the time, wanted to play hockey but not with the boys. So I researched options and this led me to ringette in Saint-Laurent in 1985. I asked the association in Saint-Laurent to start a senior team and I became involved in the committee for over 25 years. I began by coaching U10 and U12 for four years and then I went on to coach junior AA. I also performed many administrative duties for the organization. I have also volunteered with the Regional Ringette Association of Montreal for 21 years and I have sat on the board of Ringette Quebec for the last 22 years. Even though I had to retire as a ringette player following an ankle injury, I still remain behind the bench for the Montreal Mission where my main focus is organizing and managing the team. With the Mission I have had the privilege of participating in four world championships and numerous national championships. Without the passion for ringette of my three daughters and the support of my husband Laurent, who has always been in the stands all these years, I would have missed this wonderful sport!” – France Levert (Saint-Laurent, QC)
