2023 World Ringette Championships – Day 3

Calgary, Alberta – November 1, 2023 – Wednesday saw the third day of World Ringette Championship action at WinSport Arena in Calgary.

Both pools saw action today, with the afternoon game featuring another dominant performance by Team USA.

Facing off against the Czech Republic, the USA notched their third win with a score of 11-0. Forwards Campbell Schnurr and Nyah Bodnarchuk both put up five-point performances (2 G, 3 A). It was a penalty-heavy game, with Team Czech Republic spending more than a quarter a player down. Czech goalie Katerina Dvorãkovã made 59 saves.

Canada and Finland met in the evening for their final exhibition game prior to pool play. The Canadians were hungry for a win, with Laurence Lacombe opening the scoring early in the first quarter. Despite a tough battle, Finland came away with the 5-2 win.

Regan Meier (Calgary, AB) and Laurence Lacombe (Repentigny, QC) had the two goals for Canada.

Canada and Finland now move to pool play, which is a two-game, best of two contest. If there is a tie (i.e. both teams win one game) an overtime period is played.
