Jane Casson elected as vice president of the International Ringette Federation

Ottawa, Ontario – June 1, 2016 – Ringette Canada is pleased to announce that Jane Casson (Jordan, ON) has been elected as vice president of the International Ringette Federation. Casson takes over this role from Beth Hurren (Bomanville, ON) who recently retired from the position of vice president. The International Ringette Federation recently elected Ottawa’s Laura Knowles as Technical Director and Finland’s Anu Pitkänen as Director of Sport Development.

Casson has an extensive background in ringette having been involved in the sport since she started coaching her daughter in 1993. From 2010 to 2014 she served two consecutive terms as President of Ringette Canada and she has also served as the competitions coordinator with Ringette Canada. From 2001 to 2006 she served as the president of the Ontario Ringette Association.

“Jane’s knowledge of ringette will make her a valuable asset to the International Ringette Federation in her role as Vice President,” said Natasha Johnston, Ringette Canada Executive Director. “We look forward to watching what her passion for the sport will bring to the international ringette scene.”

The International Ringette Federation was founded in 1986 and currently has six member countries: Canada, Finland, Sweden, USA, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
