Junior national team roster announced

Ottawa, ON – May 22, 2017 – Ringette Canada is pleased to announce its junior national team roster that will be competing at the 2017 world ringette championship taking place from November 27 to December 3, 2017 at Hershey Centre in Mississauga.

The 22 athletes were named following a selection camp that took place in Etobicoke this past weekend.

“We are very impressed by the skill level of the athletes that participated in the selection camp this past weekend. This is a testament to the hard work that young athletes and their coaches have put into athlete development over the years,” said Frances Losier, Director of High Performance and Events, Ringette Canada. “We are confident that the momentum from the 2016 Junior National Team’s performance along with the exceptional skill and dedication of our athletes and coaching staff will allow us to be successful at the 2017 World Championships.”

Sara Plouffe – Gatineau, QC
Sara Reynolds – Whitby, ON
Torrie (Victoria) Shennan – Edmonton, AB
Britney Snowdon – Moncton, NB
Jenny Snowdon – Moncton, NB
Kaylee Spearing – Winnipeg, MB
Laurie St-Pierre – Boucherville, QC
Rachel Ung – Calgary, AB
Julie Vandal – Gatineau, QC

Lorrie Horne (Sherwood Park, AB) leads the junior national team as head coach, along with Chris Belan (Calgary, AB), Jacinda Rolph (Stony Plain, AB), Andrea Ferguson (Winnipeg, MB), Danielle Hildebrand (Oakbank, MB) and Sarah Ianni (Walden, ON). Claudia Jetté (Saint-Laurent, QC) returns to the team as goalie consultant, and Melinda Krulicki (Red Deer) returns as athletic therapist. Nick Westcott (Ottawa, ON) is the strength and conditioning consultant for the entire National Team program and Stephanie Laurin (Kingston, ON) is the National Team Program Logistics and Team Services Manager.

The next junior national team training camp will be held in Sherwood Park from September 1-4. The team will have another training camp in Mississauga from October 6-9.
