Ringette Canada adds Karen Meek (Officiating Lead) and Paul Shipman (NOCP – Education Lead)

Ottawa, ON– Ringette Canada is pleased to announce the addition of two key Officiating positions to our program. Karen Meek (Lindsay, ON) will serve as the Officiating Lead, while Paul Shipman (Winnipeg, MB) will serve as the NOCP – Education Lead. These volunteer roles will have a critical role in the development and implementation of Ringette Canada’s Officiating Program.

As the Officiating Lead, Meek will support Ringette Canada through leading, assigning and developing officials at the Ringette Canada events, providing insight and oversight related to officiating policy, officiating development on and off the ice as well as workgroup composition. She will work with the officiating team to lead the development of and ongoing positive culture that models the Ringette Canada I-CARE Values

As the Officiating Lead, she will also work with Ringette Canada on recruitment, selection, scheduling, and management of officials, evaluators/supervisors and shot clock operators, nationally for events such as the Canadian Ringette Championships, National Ringette League, LaReleve, Canada Winter Games, Canada Winter Games Challenge Cups, National Team Camps, Regional Team Camps and Regional Championships.

As Ringette Canada’s NOCP – Education Lead, Shipman will continue to support, inform and lead the development of the officiating educational pathway in line with Ringette Canada’s Long-Term Officiating Development Matrix. He is currently a Master Officiating Facilitator, and Evaluator. Shipman has brought his knowledge of web-based and desktop publishing software, as well as his officiating and project management skills to the officiating program. He will work closely with Karen Meek, the Lead Official, to support recruitment and policy development.
