Ringette Canada announces high-performance scouts attending national championships

Ottawa, ON – March 28, 2019 –Ringette Canada today announced the high-performance scouts who have been selected to attend the 2019 Credit Union Canadian Ringette Championships that will take place in Charlottetown/Summerside, PEI from April 7-13. The high-performance scouting program aims to increase the number of active coaches involved in its high-performance ringette programs.

“We are very pleased to continue our high-performance scouting program for another year,” said Stephanie Laurin, Manager of High Performance and Athlete Services, Ringette Canada. “This program gives our coaches an opportunity to develop their skill set and be part of our national team scouting process.”

The following six individuals will be in PEI as part of the high-performance scouting program:

Stacey Wright – Oshawa, ON
Marilyne Dion – Laval, QC
Leigh Robinson – Blind Bay, BC
Shawn Wagar – Lacombe, AB
Tracey Tulloch – Bedford, NS
Tania Pettitt – Guelph, ON

These individuals will assist with the U16 and U19 athlete scouting process in PEI for the junior national team program. They will be part of a team lead by Chris Belan (Calgary, AB) who is the lead scout for the junior national team and supported by Bob Kerr (Calgary, AB) and Heather Konkin (Edmonton, AB). Their efforts will populate the athlete scouting database for future national team programs, in addition to selecting the all-star lines at the 2019 Credit Union Canadian Ringette Championships.

The senior national team staff, led by head coach Barb Bautista (Calgary, AB), will also be onsite in PEI for the National Ringette League (NRL) Championship. Along with Bautista, Sharolyn Wouters (Port Perry, ON), Alexis Snowdon, Carly Ross and Keely Brown (all from Edmonton, AB) will identify athletes for the senior national team program.

The 2019 Credit Union Canadian Ringette Championships will get underway in Charlottetown/Summerside, PEI on April 7 and 45 teams from across the country will compete for national titles in the U16 and U19 divisions, as well as the National Ringette League championship title. The opening ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 7 in Summerside, games start Monday morning and finals will be held on Saturday, April 13. All-stars and the NRL Annual Awards will be announced at the closing award ceremony on Saturday night in Charlottetown.
