Ringette Canada announces new hires

Ottawa, Ontario – October 2, 2018 – Ringette Canada today announced the addition of Jennifer Leak as Manager of Events, Marketing and Sponsorship and Geneviève Roussel as Sport Development Coordinator. Both Jennifer and Geneviève will be working out of the Ringette Canada office at the House of Sport in Ottawa.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jennifer and Geneviève to Ringette Canada,” said Natasha Johnston, Executive Director, Ringette Canada. “Their combined experience and positive personalities will be a great addition to our team and I am confident they will be instrumental in the ongoing growth and development of our sport.”

In the role of Manager of Events, Marketing and Sponsorship, Jennifer is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of all Ringette Canada’s events and sponsorship opportunities. She brings extensive event experience and knowledge from her most recent positions of Manager of Athlete and Volunteer Services for the 2018 Arctic Winter Games, and Games Manager of the 2016 Manitoba Summer Games. She also been involved with the Commonwealth Games Canada, the National Olympic Committee of Zambia, and Girls Kick It in Africa.

“Having grown up in Ottawa, it is exciting to move home and work with Ringette Canada, especially in a busy year with Canada Winter Games, the Canadian Ringette Championships and the World Ringette Championships,” commented Leak. “I am looking forward to using my event experience and working with host committees to hold successful ringette events across Canada. Ringette is a tight-knit community that brings excitement and energy to all their events, and I am looking forward to being a part of that.”

In the role of Sport Development Coordinator, Geneviève is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of Ringette Canada’s sport development programs. Specifically, she will work closely with the Ringette Canada Technical Director and will coordinate efforts in the areas of Children’s Ringette, Come Try Ringette, and Gym Ringette. Geneviève is passionate about sports and has been involved in ringette as a coach, official and player. She has completed two internships with Ringette Canada and has studied Sports Intervention at Laval University.

“Ringette has always been my passion and I am very excited to be able to work for Ringette Canada,” said Roussel. “Through my previous intern work with Ringette Canada and my education, I have also developed a passion for the administration of the sport and I am looking forward to putting that passion to work in growing the sport I love.”
