Ringette Canada declares True Sport theme of ‘Give Back’ for ringette season
Ottawa, ON – November 10, 2016 – Ringette Canada today announced that the True Sport theme for the 2016-17 ringette season has been declared ‘Give Back’ (Always remember the community that supports your sport and helps make it possible. Find ways to show your appreciation and help others get the most out of sport). By giving the 2016-17 ringette season a True Sport theme, Ringette Canada aims to bring awareness to the True Sport movement, to show the Canadian sport community the culture of ringette, and to bring the value of good sport to ringette athletes, coaches, officials, associations and fans across the country.
As part of this initiative, Ringette Canada will be hosting True Sport Thursday on its social media channels. By highlighting their ‘Give Back’ story, ringette athletes, coaches, officials, teams and associations will have an opportunity to win Ringette Canada and True Sport monthly prizes for highlighting their ‘Give Back’ story. Winners from the previous month’s entries will be announced on the first True Sport Thursday of each month.
To participate, people must post their ‘Give Back’ story, a picture and include the hashtag #ringettegivesback on one of the following social media channels (they must also tag Ringette Canada and True Sport):

True Sport is dedicated to the notion that good sport can make a great difference. The seven True Sport Principles are: Go for It, Play Fair, Respect Others, Keep it Fun, Stay Healthy, Include Everyone and Give Back. Good sport happens when these seven principles are in play, in the right balance and proportion.
Ringette athletes across the country have already begun the playing season that will culminate in the spring with different regional year-end celebrations, and nationally with the 2017 Canadian Ringette Championships and National Ringette League Championships being held in Leduc, AB from March 27 to April 1, 2017.
