Ringette Canada extends key partnership for 2023

National Ringette League and Canadian Ringette Championships to be featured on TELUS’ Optik TV

Ottawa, March 23rd – Today, Ringette Canada, the national governing body for the sport of ringette, is delighted to announce it has extended its partnership with TELUS for the 2023 season.

TELUS will be launching a DEDICATED RINGETTE CHANNEL for their Optik customers, that will feature the National Ringette League (NRL) as well as the Canadian Ringette Championships taking place in Regina from April 10-16. Ringette fans from across the country will be able to see all the action on the ice for the remainder of the NRL season, all while raising the profile of this incredible, growing sport.

The National Ringette League (NRL) is the premier league for ringette in Canada and strives to be the foremost women’s sports league in the country. It wants to encourage young women across the country to become more physically active through a unique sport they can truly call their own. It has adopted a new hub format to bring more teams together to create a more exciting environment, with a large captive audience, over the course of a full weekend of ringette. The NRL will have 15 ‘hubs’ taking place across Canada in 2023.

“I am so excited to extend our amazing partnership with TELUS,” says Jenni Lloyd, Ringette Canada’s Director of Communications, Engagement and Marketing. “TELUS have been incredible to work with and are just the best group of people. They really care about sport and want their Optik TV network to allow more people to watch ringette at the elite level. They are smart, they can see the pace at which ringette is growing, and how popular the sport has become, and we are very proud to continue to partner with them.”

“We are so grateful for the support of such a wonderful organization like TELUS, with whom we share so many of our values,” says Julie Vézina, Ringette Canada’s Executive Director. “They have been a very important partner for us in the last few years and Ringette Canada is privileged to be able to count on their help, support and expertise to further promote the great sport of ringette.”

“As TELUS continues to foster technology innovation that brings the best of community sports to our customers and supports meaningful outcomes for Canadian youth, we are proud of our one-of-a-kind partnership with Ringette Canada. Ringette is close to our customers’ hearts and we’re proud to uplift and cheer on our local teams and elite players, along with our communities at large,” said Tom Linder, Director TV Content Operations & Development, TELUS.
