About the League
The National Ringette League was founded in 2002, following Team Canada's success at the World Ringette Championship in Edmonton, AB. The League kicked off its official inaugural first season in November 2004, with 17 teams across three divisions.
Over the years, team locations have evolved to meet the needs of graduating U19 athletes. There have been more than 30 teams that have competed in the NRL since its inception.
For the 2025-26 season, there are 14 teams that compete in two divisions - seven in the East, and seven in the West. Teams play a 24-game regular season in 'Hub' format, which sees a number of teams travel to one location to compete in several games over a weekend. At the end of the season, teams travel to the Canadian Ringette Championships to battle for the Mary May Simon Cup.
