2025 Canadian Ringette Championships Recognized by Think Ottawa, Sport Tourism Canada
Ottawa, ON–The 2025 Canadian Ringette Championships (CRCs) are receiving their flowers! The 2025 iteration of ringette’s national championship is the recipient of the Think Ottawa 2025 Leader Award, recognizing the event’s leadership, and a finalist in the Canadian Event of the Year – Group B (Budget less than $1m) category of the 2026 STC PRESTIGE Awards.
The 2025 CRCs was more than a competition. It was a celebration of athletic excellence, leadership, community collaboration, and cultural recognition. Its success leaves a lasting legacy for ringette in Canada.
Think Ottawa 2025 Leader Award
The 2025 CRCs was a recipient of the Think Ottawa 2025 Leader Award, which recognizes the leadership of co-chairs Phyllis Bergmans and Kristian Ewen in bringing the national championship to Ottawa. Their hard work and dedication leading up to and throughout the 2025 Canadian Ringette Championships embody the spirit of innovation and excellence that define Ottawa.
By guiding hundreds of volunteers leading up to and throughout the week, Phyllis and Kristian exemplified the ICARE values of ringette, resulting in an exemplary event. The award will be presented during the Think Ottawa Gala, presented by Ottawa Tourism, in February 2026. We congratulate them and the entire host association, the City of Ottawa Ringette Association, on this honour.
Canadian Event of the Year: Group B (Budget less than $1m) – 2026 STC PRESTIGE Award
The STC PRESTIGE Awards honour individuals, companies and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the success of the Canadian sport tourism industry.
With its nomination, the 2025 Canadian Ringette Championships have been recognized as an exceptionally dynamic sport tourism initiative.
The 2025 CRCs was the first time the city of Ottawa hosted the national championship, with more than 1,200 participants (athletes, coaches, officials) partaking in the most elite event in Canadian ringette. In addition to the more than ten thousand spectators who watched a game, there was increased accessibility as every game was streamed live with over four million streaming impressions.
The 2025 event also saw the inauguration of the Mary May Simon Cup, the new National Ringette League trophy, which was presented to the Montreal Mission by its namesake, Her Excellency, Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada. It is the first and only trophy in Canadian sport to be trilingual – featuring English, French, and Inuktitut.
Please join us in congratulating the 2025 CRC Host Committee! Ottawa is the first host city to be awarded the CRC in consecutive years, and we look forward to welcoming the Canadian ringette community back to Ottawa for the 2026 Canadian Ringette Championships, which kick off March 29.
