2025 Canadian Ringette Championships Wins Canadian Event of the Year – Group B at STC PRESTIGE Awards
Ottawa, ON–The 2025 Canadian Ringette Championships (CRCs) has been awarded the 2026 Canadian Event of the Year – Group B (Budget less than $1m) at the 2026 STC PRESTIGE Awards.

“We would like to thank Sport Tourism Canada and the PRESTIGE Awards for this recognition,” said Peter Leyser, Ringette Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our hosts held an exceptional event, which will reverberate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to experience the thrill of the Canadian Ringette Championships. The entirely volunteer-based Host Committee went above and beyond to ensure every participant left Ottawa feeling the magic of ringette. We thank them for their tireless contributions, and look forward to seeing how the Championships evolve in 2026.”
The 2025 CRCs was a celebration of athletic excellence, leadership, community collaboration, and cultural recognition. Its success leaves a lasting legacy for ringette in eastern Ontario and the city of Ottawa, and created once-in-a-lifetime memories for all participants.
“We are honoured to see the work done by our volunteer Host Organizing Committee and the hundreds of volunteers who contributed to the success of the 2025 Canadian Ringette Championships recognized with this PRESTIGE award,” said event co-chairs Phyllis Bergmans and Kristian Ewen. “It honours the spirit of Ringette, where fair play, teamwork, sportsmanship and high performance skills come together to create the fastest sport on ice!”
Canadian Event of the Year: Group B (Budget less than $1m) – 2026 STC PRESTIGE Award
The STC PRESTIGE Awards honour individuals, companies and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the success of the Canadian sport tourism industry.
With its win, the 2025 Canadian Ringette Championships has been recognized as an exceptionally dynamic sport tourism initiative.
The 2025 CRCs was the first time the city of Ottawa hosted the national championship, with more than 1,200 participants (athletes, coaches, officials) partaking in the most elite event in Canadian ringette. In addition to the more than ten thousand spectators who watched a game, there was increased accessibility as every game was streamed live, with over four million streaming impressions.
The 2025 event also saw the inauguration of the Mary May Simon Cup, the new National Ringette League trophy, which was presented to the Montreal Mission by its namesake, Her Excellency, Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada. It is the first and only trophy in Canadian sport to be trilingual – featuring English, French, and Inuktitut.
Please join us in congratulating the 2025 CRC Host Committee on this incredible achievement! We look forward to welcoming the Canadian ringette community back to Ottawa for the 2026 Canadian Ringette Championships, which kick off on March 29, 2026.
