2025 World Ringette Championships – Day 6
Lahti, Finland – November 9th, 2025 – The final day of the World Ringette Championships brought the most heart, determination, and disciplined play of the week for Team Canada.
Amidst a packed Wemasto Arena, the dedicated Canadian contingent made themselves known with makeshift drums, flags, and maple leaves galore.
The U21 Junior National Team was on the ice first, facing off against Finland at Wemasto Arena, where the atmosphere was completely electric.
Aeva Lott (Red Deer, AB) played the whole game in net for Canada, and stood on her head all game for the red and white. Kaylee Armstrong (Calgary, AB) scored first for Canada eight minutes into the game. In the second, Isabelle Beech (Port Coquitlam, BC) and Tessa Galandy (Strathmore, AB) scored, bringing it to 3-0 Canada headed into the half. But Finland scored on a penalty shot in the third, sneaking one past Lott. They used that momentum to score a second minutes later, bringing it to 3-2 Canada. In the fourth, Lauren Schoenhofen (Regina, SK) added another to make it 4-2, but Finland had one left in them. The game ended with a score of 4-3 Canada, meaning we were heading to overtime.
Finland rallied behind their home crowd, scoring 3 unanswered goals before Morgan Forrest (Ottawa, ON) broke their goalies shut out. Finland would win the overtime period 3-1, and be crowned champions. Canada claimed the silver medal. The game MVP for Canada was Aeva Lott, the Canadian tournament and overall U21 tournament MVP was Tessa Galandy.
Canada played with heart, hustle, and discipline from the first minute to the 75th, each athlete making her country proud.
Following, the Senior National Team ended a long week giving their all on the ice every shift, play, and pass.
Laurie St-Pierre (Boucherville, QC) started in net, and Emily Chénier (Gatineau, QC) scored first, four minutes into the game. Finland would score five unanswered through the next two quarters, before Sarah MacDonald (Aldergrove, BC) relieved St-Pierre in net. Finland added two more, bringing the score to 7-1 Finland at the end of the third. But Canada fought back, with Gillian Dreger (Edmonton, AB) scoring three minutes into the fourth, and Marie-Pier Blanchard scored one late to bring the final score to 7-3 Finland. Canada claimed the silver medal. The game MVP for Canada was Vail Ketsa (St. Albert, AB), and the Canadian tournament MVP was Britney Snowdon (Dieppe, NB).
The 2027 World Ringette Championships will be held in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada.
