Coach at La Relève 2026

Ringette Canada is searching for High Performance coaches that are able to teach high performance habits, refined skills, individual and small team tactics to prospective High Performance Athletes. La Relève will be run leading up to and during the Canada Winter Games Challenge Cup from August 2-8, 2026 in Regina, SK so that the athletes will have the opportunity to take in Provincial best on best
competition.

Individuals must be available to travel to Regina, SK for arrival on Sunday, August 2 for an afternoon meeting and departure no earlier than 4pm on Saturday, August 8. We will host three pre-event virtual calls prior to La Releve. The first is to outline the program, the second is for the coaching group and athletes to meet one another and to highlight camp expectations, the second is a short session to introduce the La Releve athletes to you and to begin your teambuilding. Two additional sessions will be conducted for the athletes prior to arriving on site in Regina led by IST Staff.

Additional coach planning sessions will also be run by the mentor coach.

All travel, accommodation and meal costs shall be covered and coordinated by Ringette Canada. A $300 fee will be sent to provinces. Candidates will also receive a Ringette Canada sweater and T-Shirt to be worn for the duration of the event.

All coaches will be part of a team staff led by the program mentor coach(es). This is an opportunity to teach and to learn from others in a high performance environment. The format for the program has progressive focused objectives:
1. offensive skill;
2. offensive team play (1v1; 2v1; 1v2 etc),
3. defensive skill;
4. defensive play (1v1; 2v1, 1v2 etc).
5. small space team play
6. skating skill development
7. goaltending sessions
8. there will also be a Professional Development Session with respect to handling difficult conversations with Athletes, Coaches and Parents.
9. the event will wrap up on the final day with a series of Mini-games

In an effort to continue to increase the number of skilled and experienced coaches involved in High Performance Ringette Programs, Ringette Canada will offer coach development opportunities at the 2026 La Relève U17 Event in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Through this initiative, Ringette Canada is also looking for active ringette coaches who have an interest in future High Performance programs (National Ringette League, Canada Games, u18, Junior National Team, Senior National Team).

Program Goalie Coach – 2 positions available (Competition-Introduction certified or Competition Development In Training)

The program goalie coach will lead the technical and tactical development of the 8 u17 goalies selected to attend the event. They will collaborate with current national team goalie coaches to ensure programming and teaching alignment with the national team program.

The program goalie coach will receive an honorarium, in addition to travel, accommodation, and meal costs being covered.

Team Head Coaches – 4 positions available (Ideally Competition-Development Certified)

We are looking for 4 Competition-Development certified coaches to work and lead in the position of head coach for one of the four La Relève U17 teams for the duration of the event.

All travel, accommodation and meal costs shall be covered and coordinated by Ringette Canada. Candidates will also receive a Ringette Canada sweater to be worn for the duration of the event.

Team Assistant Coaches – 8-12 position available (Competition-Development in Training, Competition Introduction certified or Competition-Introduction in Training)

We are looking for 8 -12 Competition-Development In-Training, – Competition Introduction certified or Competition Introduction In-Training coaches.

Strength and Conditioning Coaches – 1-2 positions available

We are looking for certified strength and conditioning coaches to support high performance athletes to achieve podium performances in international competition through a holistic process.

Priority will be given to those coaches who were actively coaching at the u14AA, u16AA or u19AA and those that are registered and working towards completing their Competition-Development Certified status, if not completed already. Selected coaches will take part in La Relève U17 as an assistant coach for one of the four La Relève U17 Rosters for the duration of the event.

All individuals will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Verification
as per Ringette Canada’s Screening Policy.
