In the National Ringette League (NRL) division, the Waterloo Wildfire defeated the BC Thunder 6-1, winning their first-ever national championship, and Ontario’s first championship since 2017. Head Coach Sheri Markle was thrilled for her team, feeling “incredibly fantastic” after the win.
“I’m so proud of my team,” she said. “Every athlete contributed, competed, came prepared, and they were focused and determined to get the job done. At the end of the day, they executed what we needed to do and had a wonderful result.”
The Rive-Sud Revolution won the bronze medal game against the Edmonton WAM! 6-3, repeating as bronze medallists for a second consecutive year.
In the U19 division, it was hometown heroes the Eastern Ontario Force who took home the gold, defeating the Calgary Havoc 3-2 in overtime with a goal from Olivia Binder you’d have to see to believe.
