More Streaming Opportunities Set to Transform the Future of Ringette
Ottawa, ON — Ringette is poised for a major leap forward as expanded streaming opportunities open new doors for athletes, fans, and the broader sporting community. Increased access to live and on-demand broadcasts is not just a convenience—it’s a catalyst for growth, visibility, and long-term sustainability.
Growth happens in a loop: Visibility → Audience → Commercial Investment → Better Production → More Visibility. If the first step is missing, the wheel never starts to turn.
In recent years, Ringette Canada has forged important digital partnerships with YouTube, CBC Sport, iSiLive, TELUS, and most recently with the All Women’s Sport Network (AWSN) to showcase its National Ringette League.
“AWSN broadcasts to over 60 countries worldwide,” Said Peter Leyser, CEO of Ringette Canada. “Those are countries that might never have engaged with ringette before. It is exciting to think about how digital streaming can completely reshape how audiences engage with sport.”
For ringette, which has traditionally faced limited media exposure, the shift presents a powerful opportunity to reach beyond local arenas and connect with a global audience. Families, scouts, sponsors, and fans can now follow games in real time, regardless of geography.
“Streaming removes barriers,” said Jenni Lloyd, Director of Communications, Engagement & Marketing for Ringette Canada. “It allows athletes to showcase their skills to a wider audience and gives the sport the recognition it deserves. But expanding our fan base is not only about showcasing skills. It’s about audience growth, supporting athlete development, attracting sponsorship investment, and helping to build community and connection around the world.”
One of the most immediate benefits of increased streaming is audience growth. With games available online, new viewers can discover ringette more easily, sparking interest in regions where the sport is less established. This accessibility helps build a more diverse and engaged fan base, essential for the sport’s expansion.
Streaming also plays a critical role in athlete development. Players gain greater exposure to scouts, coaches, and recruiters who may not have been able to attend games in person. Recorded matches allow for performance review, skill analysis, and learning opportunities that elevate the overall level of play.
Greater visibility naturally leads to increased commercial interest. As viewership grows, sponsors are more likely to invest in teams, leagues, and events. This financial support can improve training resources, facilities, and programming, strengthening the sport at every level.
Beyond competition, streaming fosters a sense of community. Fans can follow their favorite teams, share highlights on social media, and stay connected to the sport year-round. For families and supporters who cannot attend games, streaming ensures they remain part of the experience.
As the demand for the sport explodes, embracing streaming is no longer optional—it’s essential. By expanding digital access, ringette positions itself for a stronger, more inclusive future.
The upcoming 2026 Canadian Ringette Championships in Ottawa (March 29th – April 4th 2026) will offer more streaming access than ever before, setting a new standard for visibility and fan engagement. All games will be streamed on YouTube & CBC. AWSN will feature the bronze and gold medal games of the National Ringette League. With more games reaching more screens, the sport is not only keeping pace with the modern sports landscape—it’s setting the stage for growth.
